Q&As from customers
Which fuel card has the highest discounts?
Fuel cards that are tied to a single brand offers the highest discounts – it’s their way of rewarding you for only using their fuel stations.
However the other variable is the cost of the card whether it’s a monthly fee based on the number of cards you have, or the transaction fee each time you use the card.
Fuel cards with high fuel discounts is a good option for businesses with relatively high usage and low number of cards.
Using Caltex’s StarCard offer as an example with $2.95 card fees and 2c/l fixed discounts, the fuel savings alone for a business that uses:
- 1,000l/m will see fuel discounts offset the cost to run approximately 6 cards
- 2,500/lm will see fuel discounts offset the cost to run approximately 16 cards
- 5,000l/m will see fuel discounts offset the cost to run approximately 33 cards
Can I use shopper dockets with fuel discounts?
The only card we know of that allows use of shopper dockets with a business fuel card is the EG Fuel Card.
This becomes a great option if you run a small business and also regularly shop at Woolworths to enjoy 4c/l from the shopper dockets. Within the promotional period that’s an entire 10c/l (6c/l in promotional period + 4c/l from shopper docket). However always make sure to clarify this with the consultant as promotional offers change.
