Our review
7-Eleven have a unique offering by opting to drop the monthly card fee in favour of a per-transaction amount of 38.5c per transaction (its advertised as 35c per transaction but it’s not inclusive of GST). What this means is if you use the card more than 6 times per month, your card fees become the equivalent of $2.31. Comparatively Shell, BP and Caltex have fixed card fees of $2.20 – $2.95 per month and have more stations.
This doesn’t mean 7-Eleven have a poor offering – it can be quite beneficial in circumstances where more cards are required, but not all are being used at the same time i.e. lots of rotating drivers that share a single vehicle.
To make the most out of the 7-Eleven Fuel Card, your business should already use 7-Eleven stations and need lots of cards assigned to staff, vehicles, or both. Businesses are also able to reward employees by activating other ‘perks’ on a card-by-card basis such as:
- Ability to purchase oils and use car wash
- Ability to purchase oils, car wash and items at the 7-Eleven stores
- So this makes it a great option for businesses who are out on the road and enjoy the food and snack varieties within 7-Eleven.
While the 7-Eleven Fuel Card states you can get up to 44 payment free days, understand that payment is due 14 days after the statement date.
It’s also worth noting there’s no integration between the 7-Eleven Fuel App and the 7-Eleven Fuel Card to check and lock in prices – that bonus can only be enjoyed by non-business partners.
