Viva Energy expands Shell Card to over 1,500 locations nationwide through a new partnership with OTR, boosting convenience and market presence.
Viva Energy has expanded the reach of its Shell Card by adding OTR service stations to its network. Viva Energy acquired OTR service stations in March of this year.
This move boosts Shell Card’s market presence by expanding its acceptance to over 1,500 locations across Australia, solidifying its position in the competitive fuel card market.
Viva Energy CEO and Managing Director Scott Wyatt said: “Having completed the OTR Group and Coles Express acquisitions, we will extend our world-class convenience retail offering across the largest company-operated network in Australia, with a pathway to more than 1,000 stores.”
Expanding the Shell Card network
By integrating OTR’s 200+ sites, Viva Energy is strengthening the appeal of Shell Card to both individual and business users. OTR joins a list of major fuel retailers in the Shell Card network, including Shell, Coles Express, Reddy Express, Liberty, and Westside.
This increased coverage provides cardholders with broader access to fuel and convenience services, offering more flexibility when managing fuel expenses on the go.
The expansion is particularly beneficial for people and businesses operating across multiple states, as OTR has a strong presence in South Australia and Victoria, with recent expansions into New South Wales, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory.

Impact on the Australian fuel card market
By adding OTR’s widely recognised 24/7 convenience offerings and popular food brands like Subway, Hungry Jacks and Krispy Kreme to the mix, Viva Energy positions Shell Card as a comprehensive solution that goes beyond just fueling up.
The expansion also caters to businesses that rely on Shell Cards to track fuel expenses, making it easier for fleet operators to manage costs across an even larger footprint.
A competitive edge for Shell Card
Shell Card’s growing network stands out in an increasingly crowded market. While competitors offer their own extensive networks and benefits, Shell Card’s integration with OTR adds unique value by combining fuel, groceries, and popular dining options in one stop.
The integration of OTR locations into the Shell Card network represents a significant development in the Australian fuel card market, offering users more choices, greater convenience, and improved flexibility in managing their fuel and convenience store purchases across the country.
