Our review
The 7-Eleven Fuel Pass is ideal for businesses who want a simple way to keep track of fuel expenses and save on fuel costs. Following a rebrand from the 7-Eleven Fuel Card to the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass there was one major change to the fees. It swapped from a transaction-fee-based card (with $0.00 monthly fees per card and $0.39c per transaction), to no transaction fees at 7-Eleven stations and a $2.50p/m card fee.
With an excellent introductory offer of 8c/l off the pump price and an ongoing minimum discount of 2c/l, the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass is hard to knock back. It can be used across the entire WEX Motorpass network. There are no transaction fees when using the fuel card at any location, but you only get a fuel discount at 7-Eleven sites.
Depending on your needs, you can choose how your employees use the fuel pass, whether it’s for just fuel, fuel and vehicle (e.g. car wash, tyres etc.) or fuel, vehicle and in-store purchases. And, if your fuel requirements are more than 20,000 litres per annum, you can call the 7-Eleven team to work out a unique deal for your needs.
Security features
With the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass, you have the flexibility of choosing different purchasing options for your drivers or vehicles. Whether you allow some drivers to only purchase fuel and oil, or let them make shop purchases – it’s up to you. There is no PIN option with the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass.
7-Eleven Fuel Pass also gives you access to Velocity Transaction Controls, a real-time fraud protection tool that lets you set specific limits on exactly how and when cards are used. For example, you can define how many times a day a card can be used, what days the card can be used, or even how many litres can be pumped per month.
Where can I use my 7-Eleven Fuel Pass?
You can use your 7-Eleven Fuel pass at all WEX Motorpass networks including 7-Eleven, BP, Woolworths/Safeway, Shell, Reddy Express, Ampol, Caltex, and Mobil. You can only get a fuel discount at 7-Eleven sites, however.
How to pay your 7-Eleven Fuel Pass?
You’re able to pay your 7-Eleven Fuel pass via direct debit from a bank account (no fees), Mastercard and Visa credit cards (1.3% per transaction), AMEX (2.1% per transaction), BPAY ($0.90c per transaction) or cheque processing ($9.50 per cheque).
Other Fees
- Monthly card fee: $2.50 per card plus GST.
- Additional card: $8.00 per card
- Late payment fee: If you fail to pay your balance by the due date, you’ll incur a $60 admin charge and a late payment fee of 4.1% of the overdue amount
- Quarterly activity statement: $12.73 per annum per card
- Annual activity statement: $15.00 per annum per card
Getting the most out of the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass
To make the most out of the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass, your business should already use 7-Eleven stations and need lots of cards assigned to staff, vehicles, or both. Businesses are also able to reward employees by activating other ‘perks’ on a card-by-card basis such as:
- Ability to purchase oils and use car wash
- Ability to purchase oils, car wash and items at the 7-Eleven stores
- So this makes it a great option for businesses who are out on the road and enjoy the food and snack varieties within 7-Eleven.
While the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass states you can get up to 44 payment free days, understand that payment is due 14 days after the statement date.
It’s also worth noting there’s no integration between the 7-Eleven Fuel App and the 7-Eleven Fuel Pass to check and lock in prices – that bonus can only be enjoyed by non-business partners.
